Cylindrical Grinding Operator

About the Role

Shri Balaji Valve Components Ltd is looking for a meticulous and experienced Cylindrical Grinding Operator to join our production facility in Chakan, Pune. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining cylindrical grinding machines to produce critical valve components such as shafts, stems, seat rings, and piston rods to exact customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate conventional and CNC cylindrical grinding machines according to engineering drawings and job route cards.
• Perform internal diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) grinding operations to achieve tight geometric tolerances and fine surface finishes.
• Mount, dress, and balance grinding wheels safely and effectively based on material specifications.
• Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and surface roughness testers.
• Monitor machining operations continuously and make fine offsets to ensure consistent zero-defect output.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of grinding equipment.
• Maintain daily production logs, inspection records, and report any non-conformances or tool wear promptly.
• Adhere to industrial safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and shop floor 5S practices.

Requirements

• ITI Machinist / Grinder trade certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven hands-on experience as a Cylindrical Grinding Machine Operator in precision manufacturing or precision engineering.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical process sheets.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial gauges, and verniers.
• Good understanding of grinding wheel selection, cutting feeds, speeds, and coolant management.

Good to Have

• Experience in valve manufacturing or oil and gas component machining.
• Familiarity with CNC or NC cylindrical grinding controls.
